Family Music and Canoe Festival
Both the water and the music will be flowing at Garvin Park during Pickin’ on the Pigeon, a free admission family music and canoe festival to support Canoe Evansville. Those attending the festival will hear live music from homegrown talent while also having a chance to participate in various activities. As the tunes carry through the park, safety certified canoe guides will be on hand for canoe demonstrations and to assist you in paddling on Garvin Park Pond.
For those not venturing out onto the water, there will also be various children’s activities, animal encounters, food, and an altogether fun and festive atmosphere!
Pickin' on the Pigeon is organized and hosted by Canoe Evansville, a program founded by the Wesselman Nature Society in 2003 to preserve Pigeon Creek as a natural recreational asset and wildlife corridor for Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve. In addition to providing a laid back outdoor event for both paddlers and music lovers, the festival is held yearly to introduce the community to this program.
This event is held each spring near the beginning of Canoe Evansville's paddling season. To view other public programs offered by Canoe Evansville, please see our Public Programs page or view all programs offered by the Wesselman Nature Society by viewing our Events Calendar.
